HTC are really rolling out the updates in the run up to Christmas, with updates for 3 devices appearing. The Touch Diamond 2, The Touch Pro 2 and the HD2 all getting some tweeking. For both the Touch Diamond 2 and the Touch Pro 2 there has been a handwriting update, Letting you write on the screen in your own handwriting etc etc.
For the HD2 there has been a “storage capacity fix” ?
This update fixes the HD2’s storage to SD card. It seems the device would not save more than 8GB of pictures so a card that was over 8GB capacity (say 16GB). I for one can’t think of any time I would need 8GB of pictures on my phone, but there are clearly people out there that this update is aimed at.
You can find links to all the updates for the 3 devices here. |

When the HD2 was released there was reported camera issues, which HTC have since fixed. Along side these camera issues people were also reporting to have issues with the SMS functions on the phone.
People reported sending messages, but not arriving at their desired contact immediately, some cases being delayed by a couple of hours!
HTC have released an update to fix this issue and it can be downloaded here.

Ok technically speaking this isn’t really Windows Mobile news. But it will most likely affect Windows mobile so I think I have dodged the bullet there!
Google have managed to break into almost every market that presents itself to them. With the release of Android for mobile phones it was only a matter of time before Google made their move and made it known they planned to release their own device! Google phone will most likely (I think I can say 99% possible) run Android as its chosen OS.

Windows Mobile 7 has been pushed back a fair few times. The OS was even announced to be released early 2008 at one point. But no, we have been told we cant have this shiny new OS until the end of 2010! However it has been said that WinMo 7 will be coming to consumers, much more touch screen friendly than its predecessors.
However, the recently released Andriod OS means that WinMo 7 better be worth the wait for consumers and overstep the benchmark set by Googles much loved OS.
Providing it isn’t delayed again, we should see Windows Mobile 7 start rolling out across new devices in Q4 of 2010. Not holding my breath at this stage though!

When the HTC HD2 was released there were several issues reported with the camera being buggy, specifically with a pink-ish splodge in the middle of the frame. HTC have just released a ROM update to fix the issue!
ROM update 1.48.403.1 fixes the pink hue some users reported was appearing in the middle of the screen when using the camera function on the HD2. So if you want to get rid of the pink fuzz then get this update installed ASAP!
You can download the update here. |

As I announced earlier this week, HTC’s catalogue for the start of 2010 was leaked. Images of the different phones they are releasing have also been leaked, with some of the devices looking rather awesome. I can also say that the 3 devices in HTC’s “productivity” classification, namely the Photon, the Tera and the Trophy, will be running Windows Mobile 6.5 as the chosen OS.
It also seems that the Photon will be the chosen replacement for HTC successful Touch Diamond 2. The question still remains as to what other devices of HTC’s will be running Windows Mobile over the newer Android OS.
